Anywho, I favorited this before; looked great then, looks great now!
Shading carries the picture through its first impression. It's what counts when your viewer first sees your artwork- the first thing your brain does when it sees something is blend colours and shadow into form. At best effect, an artwork creates an idea that inspires closer inspection.
Detail/subtle forms comes next, and is a respectable means of holding attention- this is where I initially failed to provide. The preview inspired, but when one looked closer, it was a ten minute sketch. It was a nice sketch, but could be a lot better. The impression I got from the stats was that people were leaving quickly after they did not get what they imagined and expected to see.
I wasn't obligated to do anything about that of course, alas I am young and enjoy proving to myself that I can. Everyone's happy.
